CSX Transportation has recently announced a track maintenance project set to begin on Monday, June 29th, 2026.
It will be an overall 3-week project that begins on 6/29/26 and ends on/around 7/17/26 and will include the installation of new railroad ties along parts of the CSX Charleston subdivision.
It impacts the following counties: Berkeley and Charleston County, SC
Railroad crossings will be closed anywhere from 2-5 days (unless otherwise noted), depending on the type of maintenance they are set to receive. Please note: Crossings will not be closed for the entire duration of the project. They will only be closed for the number of days just mentioned. I’ve attached a list of all the crossings (Excel attachment) that will be closing as a result of this work with their estimated closure dates. Please keep in mind the estimated closure time frames are merely the best approximation we can provide at this time. These dates are highly subject to change with or without notice simply due to many of the unforeseen circumstances that can occur in the field once the work begins. Updates to the schedule included in this email can be provided by request. With the one way in/out crossings, we will work as hard as possible to have those accessible within a 24-hour period (or less).
Finally, I have created a Google map that will allow you to view each crossing impacted. When you pull up the map, you will see a white box to the left of the screen. Simply look for your respective county and click on the crossings labeled under your county. The map will highlight exactly where the crossings are located.
This information is being provided to you so that preparations can begin as soon as possible.
